Evergreen shrub grows at a moderate rate to 4' x 5'. Profuse bloom period of pink to red flowers in winter. Foliage develops a reddish tinge in winter. Prune only after bloom period. Flowers are produced on the tips of branches. Extra pruning will decrease blooms. Spiky natural form. Best in full sun.

Adaptable to most soil conditions but prefers coarse well drained site in full sun. Suited well to small spaces. Seeds attract birds. Native to the southwestern deserts.
